Call for Mentors: Support Founded in Philly Series II

BECOME A MENTOR

We are seeking startup leaders to donate their time and energy to mentor participants throughout Founded in Philly’s Series II accelerator. Mentors are actively recruited by the PSL Team & Board to provide encouragement, help facilitate progress, and guide founders where they need it most.

Their above and beyond approach to helping Philly founders grow and succeed is what makes these mentors incredible assets to the program and Philly’s startup community. Keep reading to learn more about how to get involved.

Anticipated time commitment: 4-8 hours per month (1-2 hours per week)

Anticipated length of commitment: 12+ weeks (September - December; the duration of the program and beyond)

Key tasks and responsibilities

Work with the founder(s) to identify and reflect on specific goals and actions needed in order to successfully run a business
Meet regularly with the founder(s) to discuss progress: 4x per month
Help identify other resources & support as appropriate
Provide encouragement to sustain momentum & motivation
Attend a handful of Founded in Philly accelerator sessions & events throughout the program
Provide feedback to PSL regarding startup milestones and progress

Adept at relating to and empathizing with entrepreneurs and their aspirations
Capable of developing the skills of entrepreneurs to make strategic business decisions
Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries while providing valuable guidance during business startup activities
Skilled at providing both positive and constructive feedback, and challenging assumptions
Accessible, reliable and able to meet commitments
Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
