The 2020 COVID-19 global pandemic has impacted the lives and livelihoods of individuals across the world, nation, and the Pennsylvania region in unprecedented ways. Specifically, the coronavirus disease epidemic that upended every aspect of American life has also laid bare the profound race and gender-based inequities especially facing Black, Latinx, and Asian communities in relation to healthcare, economy, digital access and racial justice.
For this 2020 year, in partnership with Launch Lane and Venture Café Philadelphia, both powered by the University City Science Center, the Women In Tech Soiree, 2020 Edition, will hold a special end of year event that will set a collaborative tone for serious introspection on how we can use innovation and technology to enter the new year with re-focused strategies on rebuilding health, workforce and employment, and the growth of start-ups during this pandemic, with a lens on representation.
The Keynote this year will be Dr. Ala Stanford. Dr. Stanford is a practicing physician for over 20 years, is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in both pediatric and adult general surgery and a health care advocate. She is the Founder of The Black Doctors COVID19 Consortium, BDCC. The mission of the consortium is to educate, provide advocacy and barrier free coronavirus testing in an effort to decrease the morbidity and mortality associated with the disease.
Event Registration is Free. Contributed donations will support Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium.
