Call for Speakers & Mentors: PSL's Spring 2022 Accelerator Programs

 

BECOME A SPEAKER OR MENTOR

We are seeking startup founders, executives, and investors to donate their time and energy to mentor participants throughout PSL’s brand new Ethical Entrepreneurship and Cannabiz Accelerator programs. Each 10-week program will take place between March 8 and May 10, 2022. Speakers, Mentors and Evaluators are actively recruited by the PSL Team & Board to provide encouragement, help facilitate progress, and guide founders where they need it most.

Dedicated Mentors:

Anticipated time commitment: 4 hours per month (1 hour per week)

Anticipated length of commitment: 10 weeks (March through May; the duration of the program)

Session Speakers & Mentors:

Anticipated time commitment: (1), 2-hour virtual session

Anticipated length of commitment: Speakers prepare a ~30 minute presentation; mentor and speaker each facilitate (2) breakout rooms for 30 minutes each


Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • All positions work with the founder(s) to identify and reflect on specific goals and actions needed in order to successfully run a business

  • Dedicated mentors meet regularly with the founder(s) to discuss progress: 4x per month

  • All positions help identify other resources & support as appropriate

  • Provide encouragement to sustain momentum & motivation

  • Provide feedback to PSL regarding startup milestones and progress

Desired attributes

  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Philly Startup Leaders and to helping Philly founders find success

  • Adept at relating to, and empathizing with, entrepreneurs and their aspirations

  • Capable of developing the skills of early-stage entrepreneurs to make strategic business decisions

  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries while providing valuable guidance during business startup activities

  • Skilled at providing both positive and constructive feedback, and challenging assumptions

  • Accessible, reliable and able to meet commitments

  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excited about startups, technology and entrepreneurship in Philadelphia

  • Experience in the specified industry and concentration
