PSL 2.0 Weekend

PSL 2.0 Weekend is an open hack on the technologies and communications that hold us together as a community. In one weekend, we are going to: 1. Redesign our web presence 2. Rewrite our core documents 3. Develop new communication and collaboration tools to bring the regional tech community even closer together No one knows exactly what will come out of it. All we know for sure is that with so much brainpower and know-how in one room, it's going to be awesome. We want to see you there.  If you're a hacker, designer or writer, this is a great opportunity to meet and collaborate with your peers -- all stars in the Philly scene -- on a vision you dream up together. It's also going to be blast. By day we'll be cranking away on our projects, and by night we'll be watching improv comedy and parading around Philly in a geek entourage that's sure to turn heads. This is an all-weekend event, and we ask you to be there for as much of it as you can. Please e-mail info@phillystartupleaders.org if you'd like to participate. Be sure to mention whether you'll be attending the whole weekend or part of it, and whether we should reserve you a ticket for the comedy show on Saturday night. Here are the specs... PSL 2.0 Weekend When: Sat 10/17 from 10AM-6:00 PM (with improv comedy and party to follow) Sun 10/18 from 10AM-6:00 PM Where: Baiada Center @ Drexel - 3225 Arch Street, Philadelphia Bring: Your creativity, your laptop and your favorite t-shirt

Entrepreneurs Unplugged Volume 3 – Tonight!

Register today to reserve a FREE seat for Entrepreneurs Unplugged v. III Entrepreneurs Unplugged Series continues on  Wed, August 19 at 7 pm. Location : Hamilton Hall 320 South Broad Street  (map -  http://tr.im/hHpj ) Cosponsored by the Corzo Center for the Creative Economy at The University of the Arts. Join us for Volume 3 of Entrepreneurs Unplugged, the series that brings successful local entrepreneurs on stage to educate, entertain and inspire the startup community.  The format for the evening will be a 30 minute presentation followed by audience participation - come out for a night of fun and to have your startup questions answered. Volume 3 features Tal Raviv, founder of DropCard. Dropcard is a Philly based lead-management tool. Tal is hilarious and wicked smart, so we expect this will be an Entrepreneurs Unplugged for the ages. Tal Raviv's Going commando: Counter intuitive lessons in entrepreneurship * Why competition may be the best thing that could happen to your idea * How to get everything you need for free * Why staying up on tech news and social media is a waste of time * You learned the most important lesson in entrepreneurship in fifth grade * There's only one thing correct in your business plan * The real role of a "visionary CEO" in an early startup * There's only three possible benefits your business can provide * Why all this also applies to nonprofits and social ventures Bio: Tal Raviv founded Dropcard, a lead management tool, at Dreamit Ventures class of '08. The company changes its plan twice an hour and the team bootstraps more than Macgyver. Tal is most proud of his ocean kayaking adventures with sharks, shipwrecks, and sea caves; sleeping on the great wall of China; and instigating a protest against activism. He accomplished all this despite his chemical engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Tal is also starting up a scalable, cheap, resilience intervention program at Graterford State Prison, and holds the Guinness world record for the largest ball of tape. Register today to reserve your free seat! Thanks to our friends at the University of Arts for providing such an extraordinary venue to showcase our local talent.  Tickets are free thanks to TicketLeap and video streaming and recording is made possible by Bart Mroz of Round3 Media.  The series continues on 10/7 at the same time and place.  Future speaker suggestions are welcomed.
