Frank Koehl is your all around go-to geek, with over 15 years of experience across the IT and web development sectors. His goal at the PSL Fishbowl is to present his initial marketing game plan, and solicit the community for feedback. Frank has thus far built Fwd:Vault without employees or outside capital, making this Fishbowl particularly useful to other “solo-preneurs.”  The University of the Arts gives us an outstanding location in which to hold the Fishbowls and there is always valuable networking with each event.  Grab your tickets before the room fills up You can read more about Frank’s background on his blog here: (http://frankkoehl.com/about-me) and you can check out Fwd:Vault by visiting his site (http://fwdvault.com). Recap of PSL 2.0 Weekend

By just about any measure, PSL 2.0 Weekend succeeded beyond our wildest expectations. Here's a taste: We had over 30 people participate. Many worked for all or most of the weekend. We produced some great new content, including a resources page, listserv guidelines and a new About Us page. We mocked up a new website (see below) that will showcase our members own content - this includes blogs, video and social streams including twitter and flickr. We started to build member profile and directory functionality using the Lovd By Less open source social network. We drafted some new logo and brand concepts. We kicked off a marketing committee. If you'd like to get involved, e-mail Tracey Welson-Rossman at twr@chariotsolutions.com. No one was injured during repeated ambushes with plastic weaponry. Improv comedy was a blast at comedysportz. And no one was injured there either. Despite my best efforts in building this list, I'm sure I'm leaving things out. It's overwhelming how much was accomplished. Be sure to check out all the great photos from the weekend, most taken spontaneously by Aaron McLean. Originally, I wanted to give everyone shout-outs individually. But then realized that if I did, this would be an endless e-mail. So many people contributed so much, so let me just say this - thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who pitched in! We witnessed first hand what a remarkable, talented and hard working community we are. At the risk of sounding cheesy, I grow more confident everyday that we can accomplish anything we take on. Thanks for making a believer out of me! We're strongly considering making this a regular thing with one weekend day each month devoted to PSL 2.0. Stay tuned for more info. And without further ado, here's our current thinking on the look of the new website, still under development:

PSL 2.0 Weekend

PSL 2.0 Weekend is an open hack on the technologies and communications that hold us together as a community. In one weekend, we are going to: 1. Redesign our web presence 2. Rewrite our core documents 3. Develop new communication and collaboration tools to bring the regional tech community even closer together No one knows exactly what will come out of it. All we know for sure is that with so much brainpower and know-how in one room, it's going to be awesome. We want to see you there.  If you're a hacker, designer or writer, this is a great opportunity to meet and collaborate with your peers -- all stars in the Philly scene -- on a vision you dream up together. It's also going to be blast. By day we'll be cranking away on our projects, and by night we'll be watching improv comedy and parading around Philly in a geek entourage that's sure to turn heads. This is an all-weekend event, and we ask you to be there for as much of it as you can. Please e-mail info@phillystartupleaders.org if you'd like to participate. Be sure to mention whether you'll be attending the whole weekend or part of it, and whether we should reserve you a ticket for the comedy show on Saturday night. Here are the specs... PSL 2.0 Weekend When: Sat 10/17 from 10AM-6:00 PM (with improv comedy and party to follow) Sun 10/18 from 10AM-6:00 PM Where: Baiada Center @ Drexel - 3225 Arch Street, Philadelphia Bring: Your creativity, your laptop and your favorite t-shirt

The "Agenda" for PSL 2.0 Weekend

Several people have asked me about the agenda for PSL 2.0 Weekend this Saturday and Sunday. And to be honest, I've been at a bit of a loss. Part of me wants to plan it out carefully, if only to make things more convenient for people who may miss parts of it. But the other part of me remembers that the most productive PSL working sessions -- from our totally open leadership meeting in Jan 2008, to the Entrepreneur Expo organizing meeting in 2009, to our listserv open meeting last month -- have had two essential ingredients: They've been loosely structured With a clear common goal Loosely structured for creativity. And a clear common goal to direct all that creative energy. So it only seems fitting that we should stick to this proven formula for PSL 2.0 Weekend. The broad goal of the weekend is to improve the technologies and communications that hold us together as a community, within the focus of PSL as described in the Manifesto. So here's the other essential ingredient, the loose structure... The "Agenda"  Have a morning huddle each day at 10:00 AM. This is where we brainstorm ideas, vet them together and form teams around the ideas that we'd like to execute. Don't miss these if you want to be involved in setting the direction for the weekend. Divide into teams and execute. Come together every couple hours for 10 minute updates. Have fun and occasionally distract each other. And let's not forget Improv Comedy at comedysportz on Saturday at 7pm. If you've never experienced how PSL gets things done, you're in for a treat this weekend. And it's certainly not too late to get involved! If you plan to attend and haven't done so already, please send us an e-mail by Friday. *** PSL 2.0 Weekend When: Sat 10/17 from 10AM-6:00 PM (with improv comedy and party to follow) Sun 10/18 from 10AM-6:00 PM Where: Baiada Center @ Drexel - 3225 Arch Street, Philadelphia Bring: Your creativity, your laptop and your favorite geek t-shirt
